Rediscovering details
This winter I've gathered a lot of joy from making images at meaningful events. I have been and will continue to take pictures of the Tradishional Irish Music community. I enjoy the music and the people. It feels like an extended family.
I also recently had the pleasure of capturing hte most accesable and welcoming event that I have attended to date, the TAPDINTO-STEM convening. I enjoyed the event for so many reasons, the image making, the people, the wecoming atmosphere. It also made me acutely aware of how much work most of us have to do to make our services, conferences, and other events accesable to more people. I have a lot to learn - for example this site can be frustrating to navigate. Finding a more user friendly webhost is one of my many goals this year. Back to the wonderful event, I am grateful to have been part of the event and to see just what is possible as far as creating a welcoming user friendly environment for a diverse group of bright young poeple to learn and connect.
What about Spring? Spring brings longer days, and I am definitely excited for outdoor events such as Celtic in the Heartland and the many Earth Day Events. I also am looking forward to a promised spring portrait session for some dear friends. On the less structured end of things, I am always seeking a creative challenge, so I will be exploring the Spring color as a new wave covers the city each week. Because I have lived here for so many years I want to keep things fresh so I plan to keep at least one Lensbaby, prism, or other creative tool on hand to keep my perspective fresh. Happy Spring friend and fans! May your joy and the longer days and beauty that surrounds us always be greater than the number of sniffles and sneezes from the pollen in the air.
